Abstract

The present study was conducted to investigate the efficacy of mindfulness-based cognitive therapy on the quality of life and perceived stress of people with coronary heart disease. The present study was quasi-experimental with pretest, posttest, control group and two-month follow-up period design. The statistical population of this study included patients with coronary heart disease referred to the heart center in Hamadan in the spring season of 2023. 27 Patient with coronary heart disease were selected through voluntarily sampling method and randomly accommodated into experimental and control groups (14 patients in the experimental group and 13 patients in the control group). The patients in the experimental group received mindfulness-based cognitive therapy during 8 weeks in 8 sessions of 90 minutes. The applied questionnaires in this study included quality of life questionnaire (World Health Organization, 1994) and perceived stress Questionnaire (Cohen et al, 1983). The data from the study were analyzed through repeated Mixed ANOVA via SPSS23 statistical software. The results showed that mindfulness-based cognitive therapy has significant effect on the quality of life (F=32.11; Eta=0.56; P<0001) and perceived stress (F=46.67; Eta=0.65; P<0001) of the people with coronary heart disease.
