Abstract

The aim of this study was to validate Persian version of the Grit scale among Iranian students. This study was applied in terms of purpose and was conducted using a descriptive and survey method. The statistical population was all eighth-grade high school students in Yazd in the 2023-2024 academic year. The sample size was 300 people and was selected by multi-stage cluster sampling method, of which 295 (182 girls and 113 boys) completed the questionnaires. Research measurement tools included Grit scale (GS), the Academic Disruptive Behavior Scale (ADBS), and the Psychological Capital Questionnaire (PCQ). SPSS version 26 and AMOS software were used to analyze the data. The results showed that the Grit scale has a two-component structure with respect to the eigenvalue criterion of greater than 2, and confirmatory factor analysis also showed that the two-component model has an acceptable fit. Cronbach's alpha index was calculated as 0.77 for the total score, and 0.60 for the stability of interest and 0.80 for the persistence of effort subscales. results also confirmed the convergent and divergent validity of the perseverance scale. In general, Grit scale has appropriate validity and reliability for measuring this trait of Grit in the Iranian student population.
