Copyright Policy

JAPR is a journal that anyone can access for free. There is no cost for the public to view, download, copy, share, print, search, or link to the full text of any content. Authors retain their copyright and articles are published under a CC-BY-NC license, which means others can use them with attribution and for non-commercial purposes.

The copyright owner's permission is needed for anyone who wants to sell or distribute the content or create new works based on it, such as compilations or translations. JAPR should be notified by the owners of the rights whenever they receive a request for permission. If the author(s) use parts of other works that are protected by copyright, they have to get written permission from the owners and acknowledge the source(s) in their article.

As a condition of publication in JAPR, all authors agree to the following terms of licensing/copyright ownership:

  • First publication rights to original work accepted for publication are granted to JAPR, but copyright for all work published in the journal is retained by the author(s).
  • Works published in JAPR will be distributed under a CC-BY-NC license. By granting a a CC-BY-NC license in their work, authors retain copyright ownership of the work, but they give explicit permission for others to non-comercial download, reuse, reprint, modify, distribute, and/or copy the work, as long as the original source and author(s) are properly cited (i.e. a complete bibliographic citation and link to the JAPR website). No permission is required from the author(s) or the publishers for such use.
  • Authors may enter into separate, additional contractual agreements for the non-exclusive distribution of the published version of the work, with an acknowledgment of its initial publication in JAPR.

Authors are permitted to post their work online in institutional/disciplinary repositories or on their own websites. Preprint versions posted online should include a citation and link to the final published version in JAPR as soon as the issue is available; post-print versions (including the final publisher's PDF) should include a citation and link to the journal's website.

It will be the responsibility of the authors to secure all necessary copyright permissions for the use of third-party materials in their manuscript. Authors will be required to provide written evidence of this permission upon acceptance of their manuscript.
