Abstract
The present study aimed to compare the effectiveness of compassion based therapy and spirituality therapy on family resilience in couples referring to counseling centers. The current study was a semi-experimental application with a pre-test-post-test design with a control group and a two-month follow-up period. The statistical population of the present study consisted of conflicting couples referring to counseling centers in District 2 of Tehran in the fall quarter of 2024. 42 couples (84 people) were selected through purposive sampling method and randomly accommodated into experimental and control groups (14 couples in the first experimental group, 14 couples in the second experimental group, and 14 couples in the control group). The experimental groups received compassion based therapy (8 sessions) and spirituality therapy during eight weeks. In this study, the Family Resilience Assessment Scale (FRAS) was used. The results showed that compassion-based therapy and spirituality therapy had an effect on family resilience (P<0.001; Eta=0.46; F=35.34) of couples referring to counseling centers. The results of the follow-up test also showed that there was no significant difference between the effectiveness of compassion based therapy and spirituality therapy in the variable of family resilience.
