Abstract
This study examined the impact of couple-based schema therapy on marital satisfaction in young couples, employing a quasi-experimental design with pretest-posttest and follow-up phases. The research included 48 couples from Tehran's health centers in 2023, selected through random cluster sampling. Participants were divided into an experimental group (21 couples) and a control group (23 couples). The experimental group participated in 11 sessions of couple-based schema therapy, while the control group remained on a waiting list. Both groups completed the Marital Satisfaction Questionnaire(MSS) during the pretest, posttest, and follow-up stages. Data analysis, conducted using SPSS26 with repeated measures ANOVA and Bonferroni post hoc tests, revealed a significant increase in marital satisfaction in the experimental group (P = 0.001). The findings indicate that couple-based schema therapy enhances communication skills, resulting in improved marital satisfaction. These results are particularly valuable for psychologists and counselors aiming to enhance relationship outcomes in young couples, offering a promising therapeutic approach to strengthening marital bonds.
