Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the mediatige reole of career thoughts in the relationship between character abilities and cognitive failures with career path optimism. This is a correlational study which used structural equation modeling. The statistical population included all the students of the universities of Isfahan city; A total of 382 participants were selected by available sampling method. Data were gathered using Virtues In Action-Inventory of Strenghts (VIA-IS) Cognitive Failures Questionnaire (CFQ), Career Optimism Inventory (COI), and Career Thoughts Inventory (CTI) and were analysis using Pearson correlation and structural equation analysis. The findings indicated there is a positive and significant relationship between character abilities and career optimism; But there is a negative and significant relationship between the cognitive failures and negative career thoughts with career optimism. Also, the results showed the more a person's character abilities are, career optimism increases and negative career thoughts decrease, and the presence of more cognitive failures in a person causes a decrease in career optimism and an increase in negative career thoughts. According to these results, it can be concluded that planning to increase character abilities in students and at the same time reducing their cognitive failures and errors can increase their career optimism.
