Abstract
The aim of the present study was to investigate the effectiveness of schema therapy on mentalization and cognitive regulation of emotion in people with childhood trauma. This applied research was a single-subject experimental type with an A-B design with a multiple baseline. Statistical population, people aged 18 to 35 years with experience of childhood trauma referring to Artemis Center in Tehran in 2022 and the sample of the research was 3 of the above people who were selected by purposive sampling and based on the entry criteria. The tools used were childhood trauma questionnaire, mentalization (reflective function) questionnaire (MQ) and cognitive regulation of emotion questionnaire . Schema therapy was applied to subjects in 10 one-hour weekly session. The data were analyzed by visual analysis, reliable change index (RCI), recovery percentage and effect size . The findings showed that mentalization got close to the average, positive emotion regulation increased, negative emotion regulation decreased. in the treatment stages, the effect sizes were higher than the average and the RCI was higher than 1/96, which indicates a significant change resulting from schema therapy. As a result, schema therapy is effective in improving mentalization and cognitive regulation of emotion in people with childhood trauma
