Abstract
Happiness, as a vital element in life and academic success, has a profound impact on students' mental health and performance. This study investigated the effect of group games in increasing school happiness of third-grade male students. A quasi-experimental method and a pre-test-post-test design with a control group were used. The statistical population was male students studying in 2020-2021. The subjects were 30 male students in the third grade of elementary school, selected by the convenience method and randomly assigned to two experimental and control groups. The data were collected using the school happiness questionnaire of Kamalimahajer et al.(2022). Univariate analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) was performed using SPSS23 software to analyze the data. The findings showed that the groups were almost identical before applying the independent variable. Still, after the test period, there was a significant difference between their scores (P<.05). According to Cohen's criterion and the effect size of 0.932, the effectiveness of group games on the growth of school happiness was high. The results showed that group games have a mechanism by which the components of school happiness will be improved. Finally, this research showed that enhancing happiness through group games can help improve students' academic and social lives.
