The Effectiveness of Mothers Training Whit a Solution-Focused Approach on Mother-Child Interaction and Mother and Child Self-Efficacy

Abstract

The aim of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of mothers Training with a solution-focused approach on mother-child interaction and mothers and children self-efficacy. The method of this research was semi-experimental with a pre-test and post-test design with a control group.The study community included mothers of primary school students in Borujen city in the academic year of 2020-2021. The study sample consisted of 30 students' mothers who were assigned to two experimental and control groups.The instruments included Child Parent Relationship Scale (CPRS), Parenting Self-Agency Measure (PSAM) and Self-Efficacy Questionnaire for Children (SEQ-C), which mothers responded to in two stages, pre-test and post-test. Participants in the training group received solution-oriented training for five sessions, and the control group did not receive any intervention.The data were analyzed using multivariate analysis of covariance (Mancova). SPSS 21 software was used for data analysis.The findings showed that training mothers with a solution- focused approach improves mother-child interaction and increases mothers and children self-efficacy.Based on the findings of the research, parenting training with a solution-oriented approach can be used as a part of parent training programs to increase the levels of mother-child interaction, mother and child self-efficacy.
