Efficacy Quality of Life Therapy on the Perceived Stress and Psychological Capital in the Female Caregivers of the Elderly in the Town of Ardestan

Abstract

The present study was conducted to investigate the efficacy quality of life therapy on the perceived stress and psychological capital in the female caregivers of the elderly in the town of Ardestan. The research method was quasi-experimental with pretest, posttest and control group design. The statistical population of the present study included female caregivers of the elderly in the town of Ardestan in 2020 who took care of an old person in their families. 30 female caregivers of the elderly were selected through available sampling method and randomly accommodated into experimental and control groups (each group of 15 women). The experimental group received eight seventy-five-minute sessions quality of life therapy intervention during two months. The pretest was administered before the intervention and so was the posttest after it. The applied questionnaires in this study included Perceived Stress Scale (PSS) (Cohen, Kamarck, Mermelstein, 1983), Psychological Capital Questionnaire (PCQ) (Luthans, Avoliveand, 2007). The data from the study were analyzed through mixed ANOVA via SPSS23 software. The results showed quality of life therapy has significant effect on the perceived stress and psychological capital in female caregivers of the elderly (p<0.001).
