Development of Non-Violent Communication Training Package and Investigating Its Effectiveness on Social Anxiety and Bullying of Aggressive Male Students

Abstract

The present study was conducted to developing a non-violent communication training package and investigating its effectiveness on social anxiety and bullying of aggressive male students. The research method of the present study was analysis thematic through comparative method in the qualitative part and quasi-experimental with pretest, posttest, control group design and two-month follow-up period in the quantitative part. The statistical population in the quantitative section includes articles, books and theses related to the theory of non-violent communication; And in the quantitative part, it included aggressive students of the second elementary school (9-12 years old) in Isfahan city in the academic year of 2022-2023. 36 aggressive male students were selected through purposive sampling method and randomly accommodated into experimental and control groups (each group of 18 students). The experimental group received the non-violent communication training package during ten weeks in ten 75-minute sessions. Aggression Questionnaire (AQ), Social Anxiety Questionnaire (SAQ) and Bullying Questionnaire (BQ) were used in this research. The results showed that non-violent communication training package enjoys a suitable content validity from the experts’ viewpoint. Moreover, this package has had effect on the social anxiety (F=66.85, Eta= 0.66, P≤0.001) and bullying (F=41.36, Eta= 0.55, P≤0.001) of aggressive male students.
