Abstract

The present study was conducted to investigate the efficacy of mindfulness-based psychotherapy on the perceived stress and psychological wellbeing in the patients with Corona anxiety in the pandemic period. It was a quasi-experimental study with pretest, posttest, control group and three-month follow-up period. The statistical population of the study included the people with Corona anxiety who referred to telephone counseling centers in the city of Isfahan in 2021. 33 people were selected purposefully and randomly accommodated into experimental and control groups. The people in the experimental group received mindfulness-based psychotherapy (8 sessions) during two months. The applied questionnaires included perceived stress questionnaire (Cohen et.al., 1983), psychological wellbeing questionnaire (Ryff, 1988) and Corona anxiety questionnaire (AliPour et.al, 1983). The data were analyzed through mixed ANOVA method via SPSS23 software. The results showed that mindfulness-based psychotherapy has been effective on the perceived stress and psychological wellbeing in the patients with Corona anxiety. According to the findings of the present study, mindfulness-based psychotherapy can be applied as an effective method to decrease perceived stress and improve psychological wellbeing in the patients with Corona anxiety through employing techniques such as mindful attitude, mindful activities, addressing problem-making feelings and emotions and breathing exercises.
