Abstract

The purpose of the present study was to investigate the modeling structural of depression based on self-esteem and self-compassion with role mediator of co-rumination in adolescent. The present research is the correlation study using structural equation modeling. The statistical population in this research included the high schools’ students of Tehran city in academic year of 2021-2022. The sample size was selected based on Kline model (2016) and with available sampling method (online method) of 300 students. Data collection tools included the depression inventory-II (BDI-II), self-esteem scale (RSEs), self- compassion scale (SCS) and co-rumination questionnaireof (CO-RQ).  Statistical analysis of data was performed using AMOS-24 software. The results of the structural equation model showed that showed that self-esteem and self-compassion have the ability to predict depression both directly and indirectly through role mediating of co-rumination. Thus, this finding can be used to design an intervention and a comprehensive approach to reduction of depression symptoms in adolescent community, in such a way that given the significant role of self-esteem and self-compassion, it is suggested that by influencing the co-rumination through the teaching of self-esteem and self-compassion techniques, we can attempt to reduce the occurrence of depression in adolescent.
