Abstract
The purpose of this research was to investigate the relationship between academic hope and academic dishonesty in students: with the mediating role of academic self-regulation. The current research design is descriptive of the correlation type. The statistical population of the study was undergraduate students of Yasuj University in the academic year 2021-2022, of which 292 (138 males and 154 females) were selected by cluster random sampling. Measurement tools included Academic Self-Regulation Questionnaire (SRQ-A), Academic Hope Questionnaire (AHQ) and Academic Dishonesty Scale (ADS). Data were analyzed using structural equation modeling with SPSS (version 25) and AMOS (version 20) software. The results of the structural equation model showed that the variable of educational hope has a direct and significant effect on academic self-regulation (β=0/44, P<0/01) and academic dishonesty(β=-0/40, P<0/01). Academic self-regulation also has a direct and significant effect on academic dishonesty (β=-0/46, P<0/01). Therefore, the academic hope both directly and indirectly through academic self-regulation has a negative effect on academic dishonesty. In general, the results of this research show the importance and variable role of academic hope in increasing academic self-regulation and reducing academic dishonesty in students.
