The aim of this study was to investigate the mediating role of self-efficacy in the relationship between phubbing and life satisfaction among students. The research method was descriptive-correlational, with a study population comprising all 14000 students of Kharazmi University in the academic year 2023-2024. A sample of 257 (153 women and 104 men) students was selected through Convenience sampling. Generic Scale of Phubbing (GSP), General Self-Efficacy Scale (GSES) and Satisfaction With Life Scale (SWLS), were research instruments. Analysis was conducted through the Pearson correlation test and structural equation modeling using SPSS 27 and Amos Graphics 24 softwares. The findings revealed a negative and significant relationship between phubbing and self-efficacy, as well as between phubbing and life satisfaction. Additionally, a significant positive relationship between self-efficacy and life satisfaction was observed. In the present study, the indirect relationship between phubbing and life satisfaction through self-efficacy was significant at the 0.01 level. Based on the results, it is very important to focus on increasing students' awareness about the negative and harmful effects of this emerging phenomenon and the efforts of psychotherapists and counselors in this field.
