The present study aimed to reconstruct and validate the Children’s Perception of Interparental Conflict Scale (CPIC) with a particular focus on content validity and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). The research design was developmental in purpose and descriptive-correlational in methodology The statistical population consisted of all students aged 12–18 years in Tehran during the academic year 2024–2025 (1403 in the Iranian calendar). Convenience sampling was employed to select a total of 439 adolescents, including 200 girls and 200 boys). The Family Communication Scale (FCS), the Achenbach Youth Self-Report (YSR), and the Children’s Perception of Interparental Conflict Scale (CPIC) were employed to gather data. The necessity and relevance of the CPIC items were assessed by subject-matter experts during the initial phase. The questionnaires were administered to adolescents in the second phase to evaluate the psychometric properties of the instrument, following expert revisions. Indices of correlation, confirmatory factor analysis, and content validity ratio (CVR) were examined using SPSS-27 and LISREL-10. The findings indicated that out of the initial 49 items, 16 were eliminated, resulting in a revised 33-item scale. The revised model was validated by the confirmatory factor analysis, which showed satisfactory factor loadings (χ²/df = 1.45; RMSEA = 0.032). Adequate internal consistency and sufficient reliability were demonstrated by concurrent criterion validity (r = 0.48), discriminant validity (r = –0.42), and Cronbach’s alpha coefficient (α = 0.85). In general, the findings suggested that the revised version of the scale possesses satisfactory validity and reliability. Additionally, it is more efficient to administer in psychological and clinical research than the original version, while still maintaining a robust factorial structure.
