Aim: the aim of this study was to determine the relationship between parental bonding and the impaired autonomy and performance domain of early maladaptive schemas mediated by emotion regulation. Method: The research method was fundamental in purpose and Descriptive - Correlation data collection. The statistical population of the study included national University students in the age range of 18 to 35 years in Tehran in the academic year of 1399-1400, which 316 of students from Allameh Tabataba'i University and Shahid Beheshti University were selected by available sampling method. The research tools included Parker Parental Bonding Questionnaire (PBI), Young Schemas (YSQ-SF) and Emotion Regulation (ERQ). SPSS and LISREL software were used for data analysis. Results: the results showed that there is a significant relationship between parental bonding and the impaired autonomy and performance domain of early maladaptive schemas and expressive suppression, which is an inappropriate strategy of emotion regulation, has a mediating role in this relationship. (Ps <0.05). Conclusion: The weak bond between mother and child, both directly and through the mediation of expressive suppression, is associated with using early maladaptive schemas in autonomy and performance domain in adulthood.
