The aim of current research was to determine the effectiveness of the positive parenting program on the behavioral problems of children of head the household mothers. The research method was based on the goal, applied and based on the implementation method, quasi-experimental with pre-test-post-test and control group design. The statistical population included all head the household mothers with children attending elementary school in the academic year 2021-2022 in Kashan city, Iran. From among the head the household mothers who referrals to the Kashan Welfare Organization, 40 mothers were selected using the convenience sampling method and randomly assigned to two experimental and control groups of 20 people. The Sanders Positive Parenting Program was taught to the mothers in the experimental group in 90-minute sessions during weekly periods, but the participants in the control group did not receive any training. The Conners Parent Rating Scale (CPRS) was used to the data. The data were analyzed using multivariate analysis of covariance in SPSS version 26 software. The results revealed that the positive parenting program had a significant effect on reducing children's behavioral problems in the dimensions of behavioral problems, social problems, psychosomatic problems and anxiety (p < 0.01). Based on this, the positive parenting program can be proposed as an effective intervention to reduce the behavioral problems in children of head the household mothers.
