The main purpose of this research was to study the effectiveness of group cognitive–behavioral therapy on quality of life and health among patients with chronic pain. An experimental design was used in this study. To this end, 30 chronic pain patients were selected from a large industrial company in Iran and assigned to experimental and control groups. The participants were required to respond to the Short Form Health Survey and Depression, Anxiety, Stress Scale (DASS – 21) in pre and posttest steps. Results showed that group cognitive–behavioral therapy had significant effect on the quality of life and health factors among patients with chronic pain. The results lend further support to biopsychosocial conceptualization of chronic pain and advocate the effect of health psychology on promotion of quality of life among patients with chronic pain.
